Spring is here, the cold frigid temperatures of Winter are fading and around the corner, refreshing spring breezes, a sprinkle of rain, and the chance to get back outdoors (for those who’ve avoided snow). Your body is saying “Woot, It’s sooo warm out, T-shirt and Shorts time!” when really it’s just above freezing. It is truly amazing how our bodies adapt. Now give us a few more weeks in these “cool” temps and we’ll be pulling out our warmest hoodies, and hiding under our camp blankets.
Spring is the perfect time to enjoy camping, BBQ, hiking, picnics, or just chilling on your front step. So you can’t wait to get out there and enjoy, but you’re worried about getting wet, or staying warm. Never fear, we have you covered from head to toe. Our team has gathered up a quick list of the best North American made gear for Spring.
On our search for great North American made rain gear, we ran into some old favourites and a few new exciting finds. In this curated Spring refresh list you’ll find goodies from Sloggers (USA), Kamik (Canada), Freeman (USA), Muttonhead (Canada), Carhartt (USA), Tilley (Canada) and Vancouver Umbrella (Canada).

Umbrella
So as it turns out, it is rather difficult to find an Umbrella that is made and sourced in North America. I did however find a few companies who are shipping in quality materials and ultimately manufacturing the final product on North American soil, using North American workers.
The family behind Vancouver Umbrella, have been creating quality umbrellas in Canada since 1932. They now focus on their corporate clients, and ship across Canada. So next time you are hanging out under a Molson Canadian branded beer umbrella, it may have just been made in Vancouver, BC.

Then after a little more research we came across this ground breaking umbrella, invented by a group of Canadian entrepreneurs trying to make a go of it through a Kickstarter Campaign. The team behind the Cypress Umbrella have put together an umbrella that features both Telescopic Architecture and Independent Suspension System. This design is meant to stand up to harsh winds and rain, it won’t flip out. Check out their Kickstarter campaign to learn more.
Now that you’ve got our list, we hope you are all geared up and ready to get outside and enjoy the Spring weather to its fullest.
